Norah Jones : The Fall

Her beautiful voice in “Don’t know why” is still in my head. Norah Jones’ new album will release next week (Nov 17,2009) and now we can listen to “Chasing Pirates” from Let’s have a look at the audio player on the website, there’s something interesting.

Today, spreading something out on the internet is a no-brainer way to promote anything you want, no matter how famous it is; from the home-video shot from mobile phone to the blockbuster flick. In the audio world, there is no Youtube-liked service for audio so far. SoundCloud is good, but not completely free as Youtube.

Pet Shop Boys posted the preview of their latest album, Yes, on the homepage of their website ( I think this is a good idea but lacking of embed code to embed this preview on blogs or other social media is a serious limitation. Let’s get back to look at Norah Jones’ new album, The Fall. The single posted on her website is ready be shared via many many social network, and embed code is ready for blogs.

This is another example of using internet technology for marketing. Even the big name like Norah Jones applies this trend into her marketing strategy.

Unfortunately, isn’t available in the share option of this audio player 😦

Pet Shop Boys – It’s A Sin

August 16, 2009 Leave a comment

I don’t want to blog anything too technical on weekend. So I’d like to write about one of my favorite bands, Pet Shop Boys. I was familiar with their song “Go West” before knowing who sang this song. Go West was widely used as soundtrack of sports programme, especially for football. Once I knew this song was sung by Pet Shop Boys, I bought Discography (1991) album to listen to their other hit tunes. Most of the tracks in this album impressed me at that time, and I’ve become PSB fan since then.

The video embeded here is one of my favorite PSB tunes, It’s a sin.

Live Music : Animated Short Film

August 8, 2009 Leave a comment

I love animation. But this animated short film interests me more because it’s about music and musical instruments. Moreover, it features Steve Vai on guitar and Ann Marie Calhoun on violin. Live Music will be attached to another animated feature which I’m waiting to watch, Planet 51. Hope both of them will be available in Thailand.

My inspiration : Charlie's Angels 2000 by Apollo 440

July 21, 2009 2 comments

Back to my college days, I was a freshman by the time Charlie’s Angels was in theaters. I heard this theme song by Apollo 440 from MTV. The lead-synth sound and musical style touched me. I was yet to know what synthesizer is by then, even know who is Apollo 440, but I love their music.

I saw a keyboardist play 3-octave-keyboard synth which is really cool (It’s MiniMoog). This is one of 2 performances those make me fall in love with 3-octave keyboard with pitch&mod wheels, and hope I could own and play it effectively someday; Access Virus TI2 Polar, Korg Prophecy.

I’ve no idea how this musical gerne is called. Anybody know? please tell me.
