November 8, 2009 3 comments

I googled around to find nice pic for my desktop background today, and I found this website when I used “Gibson Wallpaper” as keyword for image search. I like this collection of Les Paul images and now I’m using one of them as background.

Steve Vai : Where The Wild Things Are

August 9, 2009 1 comment

This is the upcoming Steve Vai’s concert film, Where The Wild Things Are, which will be released on Sep 29, 2009. It is hi-def 720p with 5.1 surround sound. Personally, I’m not a fan of Steve Vai’s music. But I realize his performance is great and his skill is godlike. What I like most in Steve Vai is his sense of sound design. Many guitarists know how to make noise and feedback, but there’re only some of them know how to use it as a part of their music effectively. Vai knows. (so does Tom Morello)

Live Music : Animated Short Film

August 8, 2009 Leave a comment

I love animation. But this animated short film interests me more because it’s about music and musical instruments. Moreover, it features Steve Vai on guitar and Ann Marie Calhoun on violin. Live Music will be attached to another animated feature which I’m waiting to watch, Planet 51. Hope both of them will be available in Thailand.

Free guitar amp modeling software

Native Instruments : Guitar Rig GO!

Waves : GTR Solo

Waves : GTR Solo

Many audio-software developers release the cut-down version of their product for free as a part of marketing strategy. Native Instruments announced Guitar Rig Go last week. I’m considering to download and try it. This announcement remind me another free guitar amp modeling software from Waves, the Waves GTR Solo. Actually it isn’t completely free, Waves allows users to download and use GTR Solo for free just for only one year.

If anyone want to look for amp simulator software to create guitar sound, these two are interestng and free choices from big-name developer.

I’ve just read the review of Studio Devil’s Virtual Bass Amp in AudioGeekZine.com by @theaudiogeek. The result is stellar and make me interested in Studio Devil product. This developer make virtual amp plugin for both guitar and bass. I had a look at facebook of Studio Devil and found this picture posted in late June. At first I thought it must be the next version of Virture Guitar Amp, and Yes it is! It’s called Amp Modeler Pro, which is now in beta test.
