is The Eddie Kramer Collection by Waves worth $800?

Waves Signature Series : The Eddie Kramer Collection

Waves has just released the new plugins in Signature Series, The Eddie Kramer Collection. There are 5 application-specific plugins in this collection. The sound (and the name) of Eddie Kramer is the main focus of this bundle. I’ve no idea how many people will spend $800 to make their recording to sound like Eddie Kramer’s.

For me, each plugin in Waves The Eddie Kramer Collection is a channel strip with effects which there are only some main parameters available to tweak. And the other parameters for fine-tuning were set by Eddie Kramer to replicate his sound. Of course, I can’t afford $800 plugin right now. But if I could, I wouldn’t buy it anyway. I think it’s too specific and overpriced. There are ways to make $800 worthwhile. Learning to replicate Eddie Kramer’s sound by ordinary plugin should be more useful in the long run.

Steve Vai – Jemini Distortion Pedal Demo

July 3, 2009 Leave a comment

This is a video clip to promote the new distortion pedal from Ibanez, Jemini. It’s a twin pedal, so the video came up with 2 Steve Vai talk and jam together. The Quality of video & audio is good. Timing is perfect. I don’t know how the video production team create it but it’s really cool.

Even though I’m not Steve Vai fan, but I do love this video. I’m not interested in Ibanez pedal at all. It’s the video-production magic that impress me.

Thanks Echoes from for this video.

I like the look of Vox Tonelab ST

This is another new product announced in Musikmesse ’09. Vox Tonelab ST is a younger brother of Tonelab LE, less feature, less control but better look. I like the black/gold color. It matches the black chicken-head knob and black pedal. I think Vox should use this color scheme with Tonelab LE. It looks much better than LE’s existing color.
