What is Propellerhead Record

Propellerhead Record has been announced about 2 weeks ago with lots of rumors before then. Once it was announced, tons of news spread out through the internet. I don’t want to waste my time reading almost the same news from different resources. So, it’s time to start using Shovebox, application on mac to help capturing ideas & short note. I used Shovebox to bookmark and take some notes about Record, and check out them all at once today.

I don’t want to explain here what Propellerhead Record is, but I’ll recommend vdo and blog post those are informative and worth checking out.

The first thing I recommend everyone to watch is the official video from Propellerhead. Not much technical information mentioned in this video, but, actually I’d link to strongly recommend all official new product introduction videos from Propellerhead. They’re funny and can clearly explain the main concept of each product.

The next 2 videos are 2 parts of Record debut from Electronic Musician magazine, shot at Propellerhead Producer Conference in NY. Besides the brief demo of what Record is, gasp and applause of attendee when each feature of Record was revealed help me to experience the feel of this event. (especially when the SSL-modeled mixer showed up on screen) : Part 1, Part 2

Last buy not least, the in-depth preview writen by Peter Kirn in CreateDigitalMusic.com can explain almost every aspect of Record. Let’s see what Record can and can not. check it out here :

IMO, the look and feature of mixer modeled after SSL9000K console is very exciting. The closed environment of Record doesn’t allow 3rd-party AU or VST plugins. Anyway, I’d be cool to wire Reason and Record modules into the flexible legendary console. This must be the completely different experience from mixing with Reason mixer. 🙂

Furturemore, these 2 videos from MusoTalk TV are also worth checking.

Thanks for the ShoveBox link! It’s always fun to see what people use it for. Record looks pretty cool too.
